We stayed for 3 nights before our cruise. Vulcan is in a quiet neighborhood, about 25 minutes drive from the airport and with the Broadway shopping centre less than 10 minutes walk away (Aldi and Coles supermarkets, other shops, pharmacy and various eateries there). Friendly and helpful staff. The hotel owner also came by every day to check in with guests and staff. Room amenities included TV, fridge, kettle with teabags/coffee/sugar and toiletries. We paid a little extra for a microwave in our room. We forgot that the plug sizes in Australia are different to Europe and USA but were able to borrow a USB charging cable from reception. Continental Breakfast was included in our room rate and included juice, tea/coffee, cereals, fruit, breads, muffins and croissants. This was ample for our needs, and clearly also popular with non guests as people came in just to have breakfast at Vulcan. For public transport we walked the short distance towards Chinatown and got onto the light rail (L2 and L3 service direct to Circular Quay). Tip: the Opal card is the best way to access all public transport services in Sydney - trains, buses, light rail and ferries, with a capped weekend fare of $9.35 per day. But to get the Opal card you first need to get to a main station such as Central station. Then just top the card up with whatever credit you need for your stay. At the end of our stay the hotel booked a local taxi to take us to the cruise port terminal; this worked out fine with a 20 minute transfer time and the fare was reasonable.

I recently stayed at Vulcan Hotel, and I couldn't have been more impressed. The location is absolutely perfect—right in the heart of the city, with easy access to all the key attractions, restaurants, and transportation options. The staff truly went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable and enjoyable. From the warm welcome at check-in to the attentive service throughout my stay, I felt genuinely cared for. The team was always available, friendly, and ready to assist with any request. The room was spotless, beautifully designed, and well-equipped with everything I needed for a relaxing stay. The attention to detail in the service and accommodations made my visit unforgettable. I highly recommend Vulcan to anyone looking for a combination of luxury, convenience, and outstanding service. I’ll definitely be returning on my next visit!

The Vulcan Hotel was perfect for my solo work trip. I stayed in a Shoebox room which was little but perfect for one person and had everything I needed. The staff were friendly and the service was great. One day my air con remote stopped working and it was fixed immediately. I had also had a few parcels shipped to the hotel before my stay, and the staff happily kept these safe for me until my arrival. The location was excellent, 5 minutes from Broadway mall with a supermarket, and 10 minutes from Darling Harbour. Despite being central it was very quiet, and I slept well every night. I would definitely stay again when next in Sydney.

The staff were so friendly and helpful, and the location is amazing. It's on a quieter street but just a short walk to Central Station, which makes travel easy. I was pleasantly surprised on arrival to store my luggage until check in, that my room was already available, so I could relax after my flight straight away. The buffet breakfast that's included had a great selection of cereals, toast, scrambled eggs, bacon, beans, fruit and apples, along with tea and coffee. Definitely a great way to start the day, relaxing in the peaceful cafe. Also happy to store my luggage upon check out as my flight was not until the evening.

I booked this hotel during the weekend when Taylor Swift was in town. Hotel prices were ridiculous, but the Vulcan was reasonably priced and provided complimentary breakfast. We were pleasantly surprised to find that this renovated old building has the charm of a boutique hotel. The staff was welcoming and always helpful. The complimentary breakfast was tasty and our room was delightful. It was the perfect place for a 3-night stay and we didnt mind taking Ubers to get to the harbor and explore the city. We loved this hotel
